Jim is a people person. He is as comfortable having a yarn with someone as he is negotiating a way forward on difficult issues with people of diverse views. He is affable, outgoing and committed. A proven achiever, Jim believes passionately in the development of community and enterprise and sees a role for education in helping people to achieve their potential. Jim feels strongly about what groups can achieve for themselves when they are committed to working together towards a common goal and uses his talents, whenever possible to assist.
Jim has been a member of the Kilmore Quay Community Development Association for many years and as chairman for the last 12, he has prompted many positive developments in the local community, the Stella Maris Community Centre paid off and extended, a walk way developed on the Burrow, a children’s playground, new street lighting and a promenade along the seafront.
Jim believes in rolling up the sleeves and getting things done, whether that means taking up a spade himself, or through representation. One thing is sure, he won’t sit on the fence and wait for others to do the job.
